Well no doubt if you're thinking of going to Kyoto you want more than just a few reasons why you should visit you want in depth details as to what there is to do. Here I will discuss some of Kyoto's hot tourist attractions.
- Kyoto's imperial palace
- Kyoto's imperial palace or Kyoto Gosho was where the imperial family lived up until 1868, where both the family and capital were moved to Tokyo. The palace has been destroyed and rebuilt eight times since it was first built.
- Kiyomizu Temple
- It is believed that the architecture of The Kiyomizu Temple dates back as far as 768. Another interesting fact is the whole building is built without nails. For culturally, historically, and architecturally sound people this sight is a must.
- Heian Jingu(shrine)
- Heian Jingu was built in 1895 celebrating the 1100th anniversary of the establishment of Heiankyo(One of Kyoto's former names) the shrine is a dedication to Emperor Kammu and Emperor Komei. There are festivals Yearly, in late January there is a festival to celebrate the memory of Emperor Komei, and then in early April there is a festival in honor of Emperor Kammu.
- Golden Pavilion
- The Golden Pavilion called Kinkaku-Ji in Japanese has been around since 1397, the second and third floors are covered in gold leaf, on Japanese Lacquer.
